March 14, 2017 JUNEAU – Governor Bill Walker congratulated Mitch Seavey today on his record-breaking Iditarod victory. Seavey finished the race in eight days, 3 hours, 40 minutes, and 13 seconds; about seven hours under his son Dallas Seavey’s fastest winning time in 2016.

“Congratulations to Mitch Seavey on his record-breaking Iditarod victory today. Mitch and his son Dallas are among the greatest racers in the history of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, and today’s victory further proves that. The grit and endurance Mitch’s team has shown throughout this race inspires us all. I wish the remaining teams the best of luck and a safe arrival in Nome. They exemplify what it means to pull together for a successful outcome. This truly is the Last Great Race.” – Governor Bill Walker
