The Government of Greenland (Naalakkersuisut) has adopted an Oil and Mineral Strategy for 2014 to 2018.

The Oil and Mineral Strategy for 2014 to 2018 shows the initiatives that Naalakkersuisut wants to launch as well as the expectations the government has for the future in the area of mineral resources.

The English version of the Oil and Mineral Strategy is available for download at and can be downloaded here. Appendices to the strategy are currently being translated into English.

The Danish and Greenlandic versions are available on and can be downloaded here.

The Oil and Mineral Strategy sets out a continuation of the activities initiated during the previous Mineral and Hydrocarbon Strategy for 2009 to 2013. The main headlines in the new strategy are the following:

Taxation/Fiscal matters
GeoSurvey Greenland
Sustainable development

The current strategy includes areas closely related to the extraction of mineral resources such as labor market, health and environment.

Yours Sincerely,
Jens-Erik Kirkegaard, Minister of Industry & Mineral Resources
